高纯度钛板(常用TA1/Gr.1、TA2/Gr.2,或加钯的TA9/Gr.7等)
Titanium plates are widely and critically used in the field of heat exchange equipment, especially in scenarios involving corrosive media, seawater cooling, and high-purity requirements, making them almost irreplaceable. High-purity titanium plates (commonly TA1/Gr.1, TA2/Gr.2, or palladium-alloyed TA9/Gr.7, etc.) are extensively used in core components like plate heat exchangers, tube-and-shell heat exchanger tube sheets, condensers, and evaporators due to their excellent corrosion resistance, good thermal conductivity, and lightweight properties.
1. Why choose titanium plates for heat exchange equipment?
Titanium plates naturally form a dense, stable, and self-healing titanium dioxide (TiO₂) passive film, making them virtually "corrosion-free" in most environments.
The main advantages include:
• Super corrosion resistance: Excellent resistance to seawater, chloride ions (Cl⁻ concentrations >20,000 ppm), wet chlorine gas, hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid,
nitric acid, sodium hydroxide, and more. Annual corrosion rates are typically <0.001–0.01 mm, far lower than stainless steel.
• Efficient heat transfer: Thermal conductivity around 17–22 W/(m·K); with corrugated plate designs to generate strong turbulence, the heat transfer coefficient can
reach 3000–4500 kcal/(m²·°C·h), 3–5 times higher than traditional shell-and-tube exchangers.
• Lightweight and high strength: Density about 4.5 g/cm³ (only 60% of steel), high specific strength, resulting in lighter and more compact equipment
(about 1/5 of the footprint of shell-and-tube exchangers for the same heat transfer capacity).
• Anti-fouling and anti-biofouling: Smooth surface, less prone to scaling, and better resistance to marine organisms than copper alloys and stainless steel.
• Long service life and low maintenance: Lifespan up to 15–25 years or longer, significantly reducing maintenance costs.
• Wide temperature adaptability: Stable operation approximately from -196°C to 300°C (special alloys can handle even higher).
• Non-polluting: No harmful metal ions released, suitable for pharmaceutical, food, and other high-purity applications.
Compared with stainless steel (316L), titanium does not suffer from pitting or crevice corrosion in high-chloride conditions; compared with copper alloys,
it is more resistant to erosion and biofouling; compared with Hastelloy, it is lower in cost and lighter in weight.
2. Main types of heat exchange equipment and titanium plate applications
1. Plate Heat Exchangers (PHE)
The most common form. Titanium plates are pressed into a corrugated shape and assembled with gasket seals (removable type) or welding/brazing
(fully welded or semi-welded).
◦ Removable type: Easy to clean, suitable for applications requiring frequent maintenance.
◦ Fully welded/semi-welded: Can withstand higher pressure (up to 4.0 MPa) and temperature, with no gasket leakage risk.
◦ Applications: Compact spaces and high-efficiency heat transfer scenarios.
2. Titanium tube sheets and tubes in shell-and-tube heat exchangers
Titanium plates are used as tube sheets and paired with titanium tubes for high flow and high pressure difference conditions.
3. Condensers and evaporators
Titanium plates are used in plate or shell-and-tube condensers, falling film evaporators, and forced circulation evaporators, especially excelling in seawater cooling and corrosive steam condensation.
